Tom,

The tube that connects to the heater valve goes to the block at the engine, and the
other one connects to the water pump.  It would be a good idea to verify which tube is which,
just in case someone has tinkered with them in the past.  While you have the hoses off 
(for replacement) at the heat end, the tubes will be easy to check.  Lightly stuff a small wad 
of paper towel into the tube ends at the rear, and blow air into one of the tubes at the heater 
end.  Obviously, whichever wad comes out is the tube that you are working on.  You might 
want to flush out the tubes also.
