Along much the same lines, three or four years ago, Pantera legend Johnny 
Woods was driving an old beat-up Mercedes across the Sahara desert and down 
to Gambia to sell it when one of the brake pads fell apart and disappeared.   
Sitting around the campfire that night, he pulled out a partially burned 
piece of wood from the fire, and using a pocket knife, he whittled a 
replacement brake pad, installed it, drove it for a thousand miles and then sold the 
car for more than he paid for it back in England and flew home!
