[DeTomaso] Oil Smoke From Breathers

I realize compression checks are inexact and the most important thing is the cylinders all being the same, but 150 seems a bit low to me for 10.5:1 CR.
I have little experience with these matters, but I had cause to recently test 2 motors-- both done with the engine hot, all plugs removed, and the throttle being held wide open.
Triumph TR6, supposed CR either 7.75 or 8.5:1---- 5 cylinders 135-137, one 125
Fiat Abarth with supposed CR 10.0:1---- 2 cylinders 175, 2 cylinders195
Was your test done under those conditions?
Jim

ust out of curiosity, what compression ratio are you running to get 150?

Thanks Will,
lso, I did a compression test. All 8 are at 150 psi. I already changed the
CV, but maybe got a defective one, so I'm trying another tomorrow.

Anybody have a guess as to highly visible oil smoke coming from the
breathers, mainly between 3,000 & 4,000 rpms?
Valve guides? (Only 4,000 miles on the guides and it's been doing this
since
the most recent assembly).
Thanks for your suggestions,
Dan
