After googling I see that drophead may also just be British English for a
convertible or cabriolet car. The coupe part is that it's a two door body.

I think it was a term used to distinguish between drop top cars with and
without side windows etc which would make a drophead coupe more like a coupe
with the top up than a roadster would be.

I've always wondered, and thanks to Google - What is a Drophead Coupe?  As
far as I can tell, that is a fancy name for a convertible??????
