Dear Erik,
I use the 8577 on both of my Panteras. While I understand
the benefits of a vacuum advanced distributor, I prefer the mechanical
version. So, yes it is easy to do away with the vac advance. I also run
a full MSD system like you have.
Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

Subject: [DeTomaso] MSD Distributors
Hello all!
I've decided to replace my distributor and am looking at two MSD models:
#8350 with vacuum advance and #8577 with mechanical advance.
My current Motorcraft dist has a vac advance. Just wondering if I
should go with the #8577 and do away with the vac advance?
Look fwd to your thoughts. By the way, I run a complete MSD ignition
system: 6AL box, blaster coil, tach adapter, plug wires ... so this is
why I want to complete the system with an MSD distributor.
Thanks,
EA #3528
