Sounds like you have about as good a plan as possible.  Hopefully you can then 
drive it to the nearest place to buy a new tire AND hope you can find the right 
size.

Blow out, call a tow truck and start looking for a tire and hope the rim is
ok.

Flat tire, I carry tire plug repair kit and a 12v compressor as well as
Insta Flat Can just in case.
