Hi Charlie,

Heat and vibration are your biggest concerns. Hot gas is not a good thing
for many many reasons. It would be a good idea to insulate it from the heat
and secure it well. Please use a metal one and get a spare as I have an idea
you will be needing to change it often...

As a general rule if the hard lines you are attaching it too do not have a
hose barb on it, flair out the end of the line to keep it from sliding off.
You don't need a full 45 deg flair, just a bit of one. Install new rubber
hoses and double clamp it.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Fuel filter location

Is there any reason a fuel filter should not be installed basically above
the intake manifold and next to the carb? On my car, I have a hard line
coming from the front of the motor which is connect to a hose roughly at
valve cover height.

The easiest would be to put the filter in this location, at the transition
from the hard line to the rubber fuel line, but I'm a little concerned about
heat. It might be resting on the intake manifold, which probably isn't so
bad, but the engine bay in general gets pretty warm.

I don't have easy access to the underside of the car.

Opinions?

Thanks!
