I would put it in my ultrasonic cleaning tank. Clocks, guns, carbs...all the
same.

I knew of an outfit which cleaned carbs commercially by soda blasting. I 
am not saying it should not be dissembled or rebuilt but soda blasting 
is an easy way to clean it right up; if you have access to that sort of 
thing. What you chose not to disassemble does not need to be 
disassembled. Soda can be washed and dissolved when done. It does not 
etch the metal in any way so it does not effect the surface.
