[DeTomaso] Easiest way to replace Evaporator and Fan?

I've got some down time between projects and I'm going to upgrade my *entire
* A/C system.  What is the best sequence to replace the Evaporator and fan?

Can I get it out by just removing the front dash panel or do I need to pull
the top dash?
Can I get the dash out and leave the center console in?

I've searched the archives and can only find one reference to a 1999
newsletter to pull the dash with pics but cannot find the article.  Where
might this process be documented?
