When I bought my Recaros, this was a factory option, and that is how my
Pantera is equipped. Actually, to clarify, my Recaros don't have a separate
calf cushion; Recaro custom-made holes in the seat pads to accomodate the
fifth point. The Recaros in my GT350 were purchased 'off the rack' and that
option was no longer available.
Other Recaros (those more commonly found) have separate cushions for the
calves, and it's possible to thread the fifth point belt between the main
cushion and the calf cushion.
Although I think it's probably better to be able to have the fifth point
going straight down to the floor, as it makes it more effective as an
anti-submarine belt, the principle function is to keep the two lap belts from riding
too high, and for that, a location in front of the seat is perfectly
adequate (that's how my GT350 and Cobra are set up).
