Modern plastic systems designed for air are good. PVC is a big no no
period. Personally I just run threaded pipe. I certainly would not put
it inside a wall.
I ran mine for some time with out a line drier. I added the Harbor
Freight line drier here:

Difference was night and day. Sandblasting was impossible with out it.
Air tools which constantly spit water, sanders, etc were a constant
problem. With the drier water problems are completely solved.
