 The main point being, a location given before putting it in a
building unable to get enough GPS sats, would still have the last
position as in the driveway outside the building.

 It really depends on the type of building.
 My GPS based device works great also in the garage, but it is a
wooden 
 building. with concrete tiles on the roof.
 And if you know the general area, you could always enable the voice
call 
 back and go around honking until you hear yourself :D
