What you are citing is a hoax as well.  The liberal anti-gun group Americans
for Gun Safety (AGS) routinely spouts the lie that there is a gun show
loophole and that gun shows are a major cause of violent crime.  In reality,
a federal study found that gun show sales account for only 2% of the guns
used in crimes.  AGS claims the shows are "cash and carry with no questions
asked" but in reality, federal firearms licensees who sell at gun shows must
follow the same strict procedures (i.e. 7 day waiting period etc.) they use
in their gun stores.

This was a hoax, but the gun community should not be surprised if SOMETHING
comes down the pike because the industry / hobby is not policing itself.

My understanding is that while law abiding citizens go to gun shops, apply
for a permit, wait 7 days, whatever, a person can just go to a gun show and
buy a semiautomatic assault rifle and not even show ID.  Here in CA there is
also a problem where people buy handguns then sell them on to criminals-- I
mean buying 6 a year and if asked where they are the person says "It got
stolen,  or I lost it."

*I* wish that when people receive ridiculous e-mails warning about this or
hat dire circumstance that is about to befall us, whether it's a computer
irus that is going to eat our hard drive, or a piece of legislation that
ill force us into chains, that they would take two seconds to verify their
eracity before blindly shotgunning them out to everyone then know....
