Thank you Jack,

Since I own a second speedometer, I guess I should check it out to see if it matches the one in the car.

Are you saying that there are two different speedometer thread types? And that you haveto have the correct speedometer to match the right angle drive? Please point me in the right direction.

Unfortunately, there are FOUR different right angle drives. One type was made by VDO and one type was made by Veglia-Borletti. Two of each use different threads on the cable jackets, but are clearly marked on the drive itself, along with the ratio they are to convert.
There were also two different speedometers, built for the two possible ring & pinion gear ratios to make up the 4 choices. One gave a ratio of 1210 revs per mile while the other gave 1610 revs per mile. The ratio you need is lettered on the back of the speedo case, usually in green ink (but one I saw had a paper label). This includes both the U.S (miles) and Euro (Kilometer) speedo faces.... This can really be confusing, I know. See Bulletin 1, article 6 of your Pantera Tech Service Bulletins for a possibly better explanation. Sorry- J DeRyke
