Yes, my first guess would be the drive gear - metal center with nylon teeth - has finally cracked and jammed.

They all do this eventually.

Brass replacement gears from any vendor - about $40. Requires removal of motor-drive mechanism to replace,
but other than that not a major task.

The headlight drive unit uses the same nylon gear.  Buy three brass gears and do all three before another 
dies in a wholly unconvenient location.
