Dear Boyd,

I just did this job over the Labor Day weekend. I expected that it would take 4-5 hours. It ultimately took.....somewhat longer than that----even using a lift.

Removal: must have removable crossmember. Must remove the E brake. Must loosen and move the trunion bearing mount to move the shift rod from below the left front corner of the pan to permit it to drop down.

Then remove oil pan bolts and off it comes. Then oil pan gasket scraping. Lots of dripping oil. Oil pan cleaning. Before you apply the gaskets, double check that you can repeatedly and easily put the oil pan back up into position to minimize the liklihood of the gaskets shifting when you replace the pan.

Apply gaskets and adhesive and silicone appropriately and to taste. "Pop" (!) the oil pan back up; install bolts; carefully and properly torque the bolts. Reassemble.

After I did the job, I did contemplate that it would not be that much more work to remove the drivetrain, mount the engine on a stand and flip the engine to change the gasket.........a bit more work, but not much!

Warmest regards, Chuck Engles
