AJ,

When you are finally done looking and taking pictures, use a razor blade and 
clean off the land area between the cylinders.  Using a good straight edge piece 
of stock, lay it across the block, top to bottom, and then with conventional 
feeler gauges  (wide flat ones) check to see how much clearance you have in the 
narrow land area out to the water jacket areas.

See what you get!  A couple of thousandths may be somewhat 
normal.......010-.015....BAD!!!!  That's when you deck a block....

80K on that motor? WOW you abused the crap out of it to waste those rod 
bearings!!!!!

Two things: 1) change your oil more often...... :)      2) synthetic 
oil..........

Less garp in your new engine no matter which way you go!!!
