I mentioned that my battery *was* completely toast.   The starter sucked 
too.   Remember, my Pantera was a total POS when I bought it!

In fact, once it warmed up, I could never just shut the engine off and 
restart it; the starter would just chug.   I had to let it cool down 10-15 
minutes before it would grind back to life.   But I did experience the car dying 
at a red light due to the battery drain, so after that I developed a 
technique where every time I came to a red light at night, I would run through the 
cabin, turning off the stereo, shutting off the A/C, etc. to reduce the 
electrical loading.   I just couldn't bear the idea of sitting there with my 
foot on the gas, revving the engine to keep the ammeter on the positive side.

To reiterate--my car was a POS! :>)
