[DeTomaso] how to start an old car?

I prefer to tap the keeper to free it from the valve stem (with the cylinder
pressurized by a compressor). I've never hit the valve stem tips for this
purpose.

Be gentle with the hammer and watch carefully; years ago that's how we
released valvestem keepers from the tapered hole in the spring washer....one
or
both keepers pop right out with the 'right' hammer tap on a valvestem.
