Larry,

When I needed mine internally coated back in 1995, I found that many of my
local radiator shops performed fuel tank sloshing and coating. They were
able to do it for less $$ than it would have cost me to buy a do-it-yourself
kit from Eastwood at the time. You may find such a shop in your area. The
coating they put on the inside of mine has held up very well. After I had
it coated I had a local auto-body shop shoot it with black zinc-chromate
auto chassis/frame paint. This matched the factory color very well and
provides good corrosion protection for the outside.

Subject: [DeTomaso] in-car fuel tank cleaning?????

 Well,

Got the drain plug out of the gas tank on the Fresno car that has been
parked for 20 years.

With constant prodding with a screwdriver, managed to get the Karo
syrup-like residue out,
followed by six or so gallons of 'gasoline'.

So, now what?

Seeking advice and experience in how best to clean out the tank without
resorting to
engine-ZF-tank removal.

Plans call for serious in-line fuel filter and new fuel lines. With several
fuel filter replacements once
car is up and running.

Planning on removing the quarter window and the sending unit to allow good
access, but then what?

Lots of water flushing? Soak with acetone?

All hints, techniques and ideas appreciated.

Larry
