I suggest reading 'The Shadow Market" by Eric Weiner. I think all still reading 
this string/topic will find it informative and a bit scary.

Larry, reading your lines below - you have gotten the problem, "...both sides of 
the aisle are in the pocket of the Wall-street corporate machine...."  Now, if 
you will only include ANYONE who wants to buy votes (you are in bed with the 
unions, Sierra Club, PETA, NOW - you don't think that they buy votes), you will 
be entirely correct.  So, we Americans have to tackle THAT problem first before 
we can ever solve any of out party planks!  ---Bill
