Removing the bolts becomes a trivial matter if you drill a small centering
hole thru the hinge into the plate the bolts go into. Inserting the drill
bit or similar sized rod into the drilled hole centers the deck lid exactly
where it was when you took it off.

Simple question. Should the rear deck lid hinge pins be inserted from the
inside pointing outward, or the other way 'round?
I'm polishing my engine pull procedure, and after reading that the
preferred
deck lid removal method is to pop the pins rather then unbolt the hinges
got
me to looking at my car. I've usually unbolted my hinges from the roof,
but
the one time I did do the pins, they were such a PITA to get out and back
in
again going from the outside pointing in, as there were found to be on my
car, that I swore never again. I do notice that the lip of the deck lid
opening is bent back slightly inboard of the hinges in a manner that would
seem to facilitate taking them in and out in that direction.
Thanks
Mike Thomas
