Sheeeit boy you don't know what a fire is ;-)>

Amen on the recommendation to check/replace your fire extinguisher and fuel lines...... although I have to say I have more seat time at WOT then anyone with a Pantera but  none of my 4 fires have been from fuel lines but I now also pressure test ALL lines. But my fires have been;

#1 FIRE ORR ('99) - Full blown fire from burning Campy mag wheel.....Forensic investigation believes brake line failure to left rear wheel sprays brake fluid on hot headers, etc....Then driver refuses to stop for 3 miles until he gets to the finish line. . .Fire suppression system and multiple volunteers with fire extinguishers fail to dampen fireworks until fire truck arrives with lots of water!
Damage Control: One year later a total award winning Pantera restoration ;-)>

#2 FIRE ORR ('00) - New engine grenades in recently rebuilt award winning Pantera 7 miles from start line of Silver State. Crank Case pressure blows hot oil out push in breathers all over hot headers and engine compartment. Driver hits fire suppression system button and fire goes out!
Damage Control - Driver shakes fist at God refills fire suppression bottle and welds stub ups on valve covers. Changes engine builder...

#3 ORR "02 - Finish Pony Express ORR - Driving home ignition wire SMOKES up cockpit. Driver blindly drives across oncoming lanes, runs over cat and finally pulls red hot ignition wire Mike Drew donated while jumping from moving vehicle.....JB helps hot wire car to drive home.
Damage Control - Driver asks God for forgiveness and exhibits Smokers Cough for a week

#4 Dyno Run '03 - High pressure oil line fails during chassis dyno pull spraying hot oil all over engine compartment. Dyno operator squeezes off portable fire extinguisher to put out fire
Damage Control - Dyno operator chips paint when he slips on oil on shop floor slamming 2nd fire extinguisher into paint leaving 1/2 inch gash on forehead and quarter panel. Driver there after pressure tests all replacement fuel and oil lines and fittings annually and gets nomex underwear.

2004-2010 - No fires, no engine failures, no problems.

Curt,

Our guest speaker at the Fun Rally last year, the carb specialist, took
about 15 minutes to talk to us about nothing but Fuel lines. He told us
the fuels today are so destructive on fuel lines, you need to change
them nearly every year.

I'm happy to hear you are safe and I'm anxious to understand what you
find as a cause.

For everyone else... please, carry a fire extinguisher, you never know
when you are someone else might need it.

So far so good, after about 20 mins. I started to smell gas, this ain't good, I need to pull over and see whats up, with that thought BOOM the car caught fire inches from the back of my head!!! Got the car stopped, (not going very fast) I was able to jump out with my fire extinguisher and with the help of a passer by and a second extinguisher get the fire out! All before the Fire Dept. showed up! At this point not sure what happened? But I can tell you that the bulk head doesn't keep the fire out of the passenger compartment for very long! All this took place in what seemed to be about 20/30 sec.?
