Quite a few Panteras have this problem, and the simplest fix is to mark the 
area, then using a ball-peen hammer, pound a small smooth recess in the 
inner panel. THen spray paint the pounded areas to prevent rusting. Note you 
may need more than one such recess- on the right side of our '72 L, I had 
three including the wiper motor shield. On the left, only two. Good luck- J
