Yes, With 18" wheels you can get more backspace as the wheel will clear the nuts on either side of the lower hub carrier assembly.

        I have the brake rotors mounted on outside hats, pushing the wheels out a bit. My 285's are pretty close to the fender. If I go to 18" wheels can I get more backspace? I going to  make a fixture to measure the clearances all around.
