MKM Racing (bonneville 100 and Pony Express) have a 'Hand Timers Award' for
guys still using stop watches with no GPS.

Personally I don't even pay attention to anything but course conditions and
engine vitals (oil, fuel, and water pressures & temp)....I might glance at
Tach but I just listen to the sweet music of how everything sounds at WOT.

The biggest compliment you can get is to have 'course workers' come up to
you at any open track or open road race after you have blown by them and
have them tell you that your Pantera sounded better then any car in the
competition.....thats a beautiful thing...Will is right on.

Again, gotta give thanks to the 'vendors' who are also my friends who made
it all happen....Russ Fulps for engine, Dick Drenske for cooling, chassis
and suspension and general wrenching, Mike Trusty for fuel injection, and
Richard Clewett for tuning.

If only it were like that, but alas it seems that modern technology plays a
big part... more like focusing on the decimals on the GPS for the last 10
miles playing with the throttle to bring the GPS into the .999 range. Don't
get me wrong I'm not taking anything away from the guys who are running it
as they are out there and I'm not (yet), but it would sure be more appealing
if it was an old stopwatch and seat of the pants.
