Ken, if the cam is out, a tap on each side side of the gear with a brass or
rawhide hammer should start it moving. If its still in the engine, two pry
bars are your only choice. Some sprockets are tighter than others! But
they're pretty tough- light taps and prying won't bend them.
Which timing set did you use? Some sprockets are steel, others are cast
iron, and if steel, the cam thrust plate should also be steel. Stock thrust
plates are cast iron, compatible with stock cast iron sprockets. Ford sells
steel thrust plates, and also Summit Racing & Jegs. Good luck- J Deryke
