[DeTomaso] bump steer help

I need to do this myself. Is one method better than the other? Are there advantages or disadvantages to either?

Bump-steer in a Pantera can be improved two ways: the simplest is a pair of 
strap-spacers beween the front trunk floor and the steering rack mounts. 
The exact thickness varies from Pantera to Pantera, but generally, 5/16" thick 
helps most cars. Note that shifting the rack down & fwd also decreases the 
Ackermann toe-gain, which may not be noticable unless you've done a few 
other things in the front suspension.

The second way is to raise the tie rod ends by substituting heim joints for 
the tie rod ends, and adding 1/4- 5/16" thick spacers between the heims and 
steering arms. This is best done with a pair of stud adapters from Speedway 
Motors ($9 ea) that allows the original tapered holes in the steering arms 
to remain intact. Drilling the arms straight and using a gr-5 bolt keeps you 
from ever running tie rod ends again. 

Both methods are sold quite cheaply by vendors and others.   No surprise: 
either one will require front toe-in adjustment afterwards. And if you use 
the tapered studs, both are completely reversable if you decide you don't like 
the results. Note that bump-steer can be minimized but not eliminated in
