Oh c'mon now.  The real low-level marker for Mustangs was the '74 which was
nothing more than a glorified Pinto.  The '79 was the start of the Fox
platform cars that finally sprouted the 5.0HO resulting in Mustang muscle
car resurgence.

A 1979 Mustang could only be considered a "real marker for our development
as our society"  if a baby's turd is considered a marker for his development
