[DeTomaso] NPC - Worst flights

Well, this young pup has only flown on a DC-3 twice. No incidents
either time.

But..

There was a summer I caught a hop on a C-141 from Fairchild to Hawaii.
Somewhere over the Pacific, with nothing but water as far as the eye
could see... we suddenly heard a very loud BANG that woke must of us
up. Nothing -seemed- to be wrong though; the airplane was still in the
air, the engines still running, no perceptible loss in altitude. Then
the flight engineer came back, opened a panel, shined a flashlight in,
took a look, closed the panel and said "it's nothing" and went back to
the cockpit.

One of the guys on on deployment paced the aisle the rest of the flight.

Okay to make a long story longer. The return flight got delayed a day,
I found out when I went back to Hickam to catch it. Turns out the bird
I was on lost a compressor on one of the engines. Good thing there were
four. So it was held up in Hawaii for an extra day while they flew in a
replacement engine. Then I flew back on the same plane... just a day later.

Still my most favorite story is of the F4 pilot who was escorting a B-52
and wanted to play "follow the leader." Being nice, the F4 pilot let
the The B-52 pilot go first. After a few minutes the F4 pilot asks the
B-52 pilot what he did. "Shut down four engines" came the reply. The
F4 pilot was silent the rest of the trip. :)

Looks like AJ is going to take the Pantera, truck and trailer, and keep them exercised while I'm gone. He deserves them....he's worked his tail off in support of TPR and POCA and the rest of you rat bastards can't be

Now the DC3 from San Juan PR to St. Thomas was great. . .seats were so worn so well that when you sat down you sank all most to the floor deck. American's flying both.
