[DeTomaso] Aldan shocks help!

I understand what you are saying, but the rate of leaking from shocks should be zero.
Shocks do wear out after 60-100K miles and some slight staining on them from microleakage occasionally occurs, but if they are outright failing due to leakage on cars that are driven as little as these are, that is something to keep in mind.

I think Dennis (Mad Dog) has Aldan shocks and I don't think he babies them or
as had problems. People talk the most about parts they have problems with, not
he ones that work OK. If more people buy Aldan shocks than other shocks, and
ll the shock have similar failure rates, you would of course hear more
omplaints about aldan shocks.

e really should check the facts before trashing a product. I called Bob Byers
nd he said the Aldan shocks they sell have been reliable.

Aldans are hot rod shocks and IMHO not a good choice for a Pantera or any
other car that sees more than a show n' shine.....okay so maybe that makes
them suitable for some Pantera's :>). Truth is they have a habit of leaking
and requiring rebuild, a service which Aldan readily offer presumably as
they get so many to rebuild.

Almost everybody I know who has Aldan shocks has had them fail. Aldan has
een very good about rebuilding them--again and again in some cases. They
lame the owners for the failures, claiming they have done things to induce
ailure, such as driving the car. Or, in one case, not driving the car,
s the shocks were leaking in the box before they were even installed.
One set I know of has made three round trips across the Atlantic. That
tarts to get expensive in a hurry! In fact the owner has paid more for
hipping back and forth than he originally paid for the shocks!
For the same money you can get quality Koni shocks from Dennis Quella or
arino Perna, or QA1/Carrera shocks from Steve Wilkinson or Larry Stock.
hose are both reputable shocks from reputable companies, tailor-made for the
antera.
