Uh...no.

Ride height is set with coilover shocks by raising and lowering the spring perch on a threaded collar.  You're not 'compressing' anything.  The spring rate is the same whether you have it jacked to the moon, or lowered into the weeds.  The length of the spring is unchanged in either case, as is the rate.

I think you're thinking about lowering the car by *cutting* the springs, which does increase the spring rate (and generally screws things up).
