On the issue of census privacy and information collected, when you  
receive your mailed form, there is an insert that states:

Federal law protects your privacy and keeps your answers confidential.  
The answers you give on the census form cannot be obtained by law  
enforcement or tax collection agencies. Your answers cannot be used in  
court. They cannot be obtained with a Freedom of Information Act  
request.

As allowed by law, census data (only) becomes public after 72 years.  
This information (then) can be used for family history and other types  
of historical research.

The census has been an institution of this Nation since 1790. It is  
not some new nefarious scheme by either Liberal Socialists, Corporate  
Lackey Conservatives or Big Brother Government.

Either check the little boxes and mail it back or toss it in the trash.

But please stop trying to make it into something it isn't.
