Known to be scary?...how about not one but '2' AMX's at 165+ MPH?
In open track and open road race the preception 20 years ago by other competitors was the Pantera looked good but it had a bunch of problems Ford never resolved.....well WE solved them and so did some vintage AMX owners. I've seen some really kick ass AMX's at open track and open road races.
In May '97 2 guys drove their AMX's to and from Silver State. One averaged 145 Mph and the other averaged 135 Mph over the 90 mile 2-lane road course. Both these guys were averaging 150+ mph in the straights. . .not too bad for a '69 AMX that can't handle and is known to be scary light at speed! ;-)
Junior and I had a great time with these guys.....They joked about how bad the AMX rep was and we joked about how bad the pantera rep was......and at awards dinner it got awfully quiet when we picked up trophys.....Okay, Junior ran off the road with his Pantera but that is another story. Both the AMX owners added small spoilers but otherwise their AMX's had few modifcations.

The AMX390 guys are funny. They have always said would have could have
should have....Yet they fail to mention at a measly 100mph the AMX was
known to get scary light on the front end from aerodynamic lift.
