[DeTomaso] Replacing stock cooling fans

Henrik -
For what it's worth, many moons ago I replaced my stock fans with a set of
Flex-a-lite sucker fans and never had a single overheating problem again. If
you have 3 fans and still overheat in traffic, I suspect that your fans are
just tired and aren't capable of providing the airflow necessary.

If you don't overheat at highway speed but do in traffic, then your radiator
has sufficient cooling capacity and the problem is airflow.

There are plenty of sucker and pusher fans out there working, so the choice
is yours as to which method to use, but a modern, working fan should solve
your problems. I used Flexalite FLX-220 or something like that, in a sucker
configuration

Asunto: [DeTomaso] Replacing stock cooling fans

Hi guys

I have some trouble with the cooling on my 71. I have the stock fans on
the front of the radiator and one new on the back. The problem is:

1. Even if all 3 of them run I have problems when stuck in traffic
for too long.

2. The new fan that is connected to the same wiring as the 2 stock
ones overheats the wires and the fuse (the previous owner changed to
30A).

I was planning just to rewire the fans with new relays and so on. But
maybe I should throw the stock fans out?

What's the "standard" solution out there? Do you still have the stock
fans? If replacing them, what do I need to get instead to cope with the
cooling? I have a stock radiator in good condition.
