[DeTomaso] How do you remove powder paint?

Ken,

If they are powder coated they can be stripped by raising the temp in an
oven to about 600 degrees. I have had some powder coated wheels stripped
and recoated. The first two I spent 8 hours each between blasting and
sanding. I took them to the coater and whined about how long it took and I
still had 2 more to do. He had me bring the other 2 over and he put them in
the oven and raised the temp, I think to 600, and when they cooled he blew
them off with high pressure air and they were cleaned down to the aluminum.
I have had him do this a few other times on intakes and supercharger
housings and after he strips them he does a light sand blast and recoats
them. On all translucent colors he does three coats. First is a silver the
next is a translucent red or blue and the third is a clear. I have a set on
my '94 lightning that have held up very well since '96.
