yes, very sad, from what I could find, the guy seemed to have it all, was
having fun and was also giving back to the world that made his lifestyle
possible. It always seems to be decent people who meet fate like this while
the loser crackheads of the world live forever at taxpayer expense.

I'd speculate that his COD wasn't anything super gruesome, back to what I
wrote earlier about street cars making lousy race cars and not being as
safe, Based on the photo and limited description, I'd gamble that his upper
body /belts came loose in the violent rolls, probably why the door is
missing, and that kind of weight whipping around while your bottom half is
strapped in, well ....simply breaks your neck. I have as an instructor at
driving schools for the SCCA seen some absolutely ludicrous seat belt
mounting methods and sent several want to be racers packing or off to find
proper repairs before allowing them to take part in the school. floor pans
and a couple of big ass washers are not suitable mounts for a seat belt
system, belts brackets need to be bolted/welded to something that won't
bend, tear, break or separate from the car ( ask Dale E Sr. ). A human head
weighs 8=10 lbs, add the weight of a helmet, then twist and turn the mass by
6-10 g's in a speedy accident and you have hundreds/thousands of pounds of
force trying to separate your head from your shoulders.

Hans devices are cheap compared to being dead.

I'd ask all our track day folks to think of the worst possible accident and
plan on ways of surviving it.

My own fear is being upside down and on fire, I've done both, but not at the
same same,

Money spent on safety is money well spent, it should come before performance
parts or anything else.

Not being preachy, but we are a small community, let;s help keep each other
alive.
