Sounds phishy due to the spelling errors, and because Utah is EAST of Las Vegas, not West.

Was there any kind of attachment or link in the email - if so, don't open it. Perhaps Gerry's email was spoofed. Try hitting the 'reply' button to reply to the email and check if the send 
message populates with Gerry's email or a different email address. Or, you could always just call Gerry and ask him. Maybe it's a legit message but not intended for you - his email client's 
(Outlook, Yahoo, etc) auto-complete feature might have selected your name from his address book instead of the correct recipient - happens with Outlook at work all the time.
