I was a bit surprized to read the responses, and I think it's because I
might have been misunderstood. It was just a joke.

I talk about fun , F-U-N, I'm not talking about racing, nor money, nor costs
involved, nor bling-bling, nor celebrities... just pure F-U-N.

It is true that 2 guys in a Porsche Techart killed two miserable innocent in
a very old Volkswagen Golf a couple of years ago in Croatia (?) . This is
the bad part, because some people feel irresponsible and think they're God
because they drive an expensive car . The same happened three months ago at
Rallye de Paris in France ( the French upnose equivalent), where a man and
his wife ( 35 years old ) killed themselves all alone at 180 mph in a brand
new Porsche 997 on a small 2 lane drive, type of rollercoaster lane, and the
Porsche lift off on a bump, and flew and crashed on a pillar ( engine was
found more than 100 m away from the gearbox and rest of the car ). Well,
this unfortunately HAPPENS EVERYWHERE, EVERY DAY, on "normal" roads, and
even with cheap cars, because people are irresponsible, and they are poor
drivers, or they DUI, or they have a technical failure, or a cat crosses the
  way or whatever....

I have never participated to an ORR or even to a rally, because driving like
a maniac on a normal road, with no escape area if a tyre explodes, or an
animal crosses the road, or even a kid after his foot ball crosses... For
me, the risk is just too big when related to the speed, and to my personal
  responsability towards my family.

Now, try to follow me at Le Mans or Spa or Mugello, that's another type of
F-U-N, and to me, the risk is much much lower, however the speed is much
much higher, believe me ! I cannot push hard enough on the accelerator ! Of
course, it is not cheap, it is " bling bling", Rolex is far from being
expensive enough, you take a Parmigiani watch, or similar, Rolex is just too
common. Many owners-drivers leave the race course in their private jets with
their numerous friends after the race ( not me ...I stay in the campsite and
watch football with my friends while barbecueing, until the next day) That's
great FUN too, but unfortunately, it only happens once every two year :>(
In fact, next year, I know what to do with Candy, and you are all invited !
: De Tomaso will be the honored brand in June on the Spa Francorchamps
Formula One race track, for Spa Italia ( www.spaitalia.be ).

Last but not least, ask Bob Levitt ( unfortunately, I don't know him) if he
had FUN , the most ironical thing IMHO, being that he crossed the finish
line in 1st position, beating Veyron, Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, Konigsegg,
Pagani Zonda ... That's just hilarious, isn't it , and we're all proud of
  him !
Pat ( see you in Le Mans in just one month ! )
