[DeTomaso] Laminova Crown Victoria police Interceptor oil to wateroil cooler.

Jeff,

Attached is a detail I cut out of another pic I had. The left fitting in the pic has the retaining plate fingers bent around it so the plate doesn't come off it unless you bend it slightly. The right fitting slides into the slot before assembly. As you can see the fittings are free to swivel during assembly but will probably remain fixed when the retaining plate is tightened down. I cut the crimped sleeves off and reused the fittings with new o-rings and new crimp sleeves when I had new oil lines made. I can get better pics of the fittings if you want for reference, I still have an old oil line around I think.

  Tomas:

Here's a couple of photos of the Laminova's with the Aeroquip type fittings. I bought 3 of them at a swap meet several years ago and they all had the same fittings. I put one on my car, sold one and this one is still kicking around the barn..

I don't seem to have a good place to post these photos where everyone on the site can see them (I know they'll be stripped by this message board.) so maybe you have some easy way to let anyone who cares look at them?

As you can see, these fittings made it very easy to put new lines/hoses on them.... They come apart like any Aeroquip type fitting, and they turn in a swivel joint at the hose so you can screw the fitting into the casting with a wrench without turning the hose. I kept this one just because I thought I might use the fittings on something else one of these days... New fittings would probably cost more than I paid for this cooler.

  Take care!

  Jeff 2467.

That's nothing like the ones on the handful or so of Ford oil coolers that I've seen. The Ford connectors are not swiveling (but can be inserted at any rotational position during assembly) and are crimp fitted to the oil line.

Most lines come in "kit form". e.i. you buy the hose, and the fittings, and cut the hose to length and then
"Screw them together." Most of the Aeroquip hose fitting, like the ones on the Laminova, actually screw together (or unscrew to take them apart). The collar is in-fact a big nut. You take the nut, shove the hose in one end of it, then screw the other part of the fitting into the other end of the nut which forces the hose into some grooves in the inside of the collar.

Here's a pretty good "how to"..

Do they make hoses that are suitable for oil lines that are longer that are already equipped with an aeroquip fitting?

That was my basic concern(using the Ford fittings, and adapting new oil
lines to the Ford fittings at the Laminova end , and fabricating braided
stainless lines and A&N fittings to attach the oil lines to either a sand
which plate or the remote filter set up I bought. Thanks for your feed back.
