[DeTomaso] Overheating Issue

Sorta kinda. In my case it truly was trapped air. I eventually filled
the system from the thermostat hole, manually turning the water pump and
burping the system. I also burped it at the top fitting of the radiator.

Since then, I've only added fluid to the (temporary) overflow once. It
promptly puked it out on my next drive so ever since -then- I've not
added any and the overflow stays at the same level with no overheating.

I recently went on what seemed a long hot drive. Once in a parking lot
and waiting for other club members to arrive, I took my IR heat gun and
measured the temps at the pipe coming off the thermostat. 200. I was
satisfied no overheating was taking place.

For this friend, it may be he's getting a leak in a head gasket, or
maybe a cracked block leaking into the water jacket? The only other
thing might be the temp sending unit? Or perhaps there is enough crud
in the block now to prevent good circulation in the block and heads.

Dunno,

Asa Jay.
