Great minds think alike - for those who can't get enough of Le Mans Classic
photos, or of the tour before the event, I've loaded *my* pictures to the
POCA website. They are more or less in chronological order, with a little
description of what you are seeing in each photo.
Pictures start here: http://www.poca.com/index.php/gallery/?g2_itemId=23796
And I've got 108 photos uploaded... I began writing up some of the trip on a
long flight I had last week - I'll send it when I complete it. We had a
FANTASTIC time. The weather cooperated, we had no mechanical issues
(although the Deauville had to be abandoned in Paris on the way home) the
hotels were really neat, we ate very well, and had a fantastic group of
people. What more could you ask for?
Already looking forward to doing something similar in 2012!

Hi guys,
I uploaded a ton of photos from Charlie McCall's Le Mans Classic tour to my
Photobucket album, using their bulk uploader feature (I wish the POCA album
had that feature....)
The photos were loaded by order of file name, then a few got shuffled
around as I rotated them etc. I was also using two cameras, which confuses
things even further.
There are 18 total pages of photos; the tour actually starts on Page 12
(photos of Stephane Bergeron's red pushbutton Pantera on a trailer), and
continues through Page 15. The last photo from the tour is of George
Gordon-Smith's green MGB.
The action then picks up starting on page 1, with mostly action shots on
the track. You'll note that I got some excellent photos and a lot of
really
bad ones; I haven't bothered to weed the turkeys out yet. Then the trip
continues showing the campsite etc. starting on page 15, and then the UK
club
dinner after Le Mans. Then I went to Claude Dubois' house in Provance and
spent a day riding motorcycles on the tiny back roads. Now I'm back in
Paris, and heading for home tomorrow.
Hats off to Charlie and Amaya for organizing an OUTSTANDING tour (really,
the planning and execution were both brilliant), and to Michelle Bergeron
for
organizing the De Tomaso display at Le Mans.
The display was quite noteworthy, having at least one example of every De
Tomaso road car except for a Vallelunga. Roel Pollen's Deauville was
terrific, as was Roland Jackel's Longchamp GTS (the original factory
prototype for
the GTS model, with flares in steel instead of fiberglass). Most
significant was the Pantera Si Targa, owned by a reclusive Englishman
(unknown to
anybody in the English club until now) but based in Belgium. One of only
four made, this was the last example.
Enjoy!
