Dear friend of Michael.
It's close to FIAT but not. And almost a convertible but not.
I had a 76 Lancia Scorpion which handled like a mid-engine go kart. It looks kinda like a,a,.... a Pantera! Pininfarina stuff.
Only made 2 years 76-77 with the 77 having open side panels for better visibility they said. You know, the stupid Americans.
The problem was not enough power to induce oversteer when the front end started scrubbing a bit. It's probably not gonna be worth much but it was the car that made me step up to the Pantera.
With a little tweaking(mine was bone stock) it could be a real fun ride, and a little different than most. Interior was cheap and looked it.
Has a nifty sunroof design but I didn't have it open much after smelling exhaust at slower speeds. I had always thought this could be remedied by extending or moving the tips but never did it.
I had planned on putting in either a Abarth race engine or a V-6. That money was instead directed to owning a Pantera.
I believe there is a large following in Europe for Lancia racing and parts, at least there was before 1999,when I bought my car.
And hey, who knows sports cars better than Italy? Go Italian,FIAT be damned.
Ciao,
Matt(really wanted a Stratos)

I have a friend looking for an entry level convertible that he can use to
start a collection and work on himself, thus no computers onboard.
I've suggested cars that will retain value and be relatively easy to wrench
on when needed such as. TR4, TR6, Spitfire, MGB, AH Sprite, Chevy Corvair,
914 2.0,
(no interest in a Mazda Miata and no Fiats). I hesitated to suggest an Alfa
becuase of the cost of parts.
For the sake of his wife, I've sold a reasonable selection as being superior
to a Bank CD at 2%, so whatever it is needs to be something that retains or
grows in value
and won't cost a fortune to maintain. It should be fairly complete and ready
to ride, he's capable of minor mechanicals and interior mods if needed.
Any other ideas,
Michael Shortt
