[DeTomaso] I need some advice from you Fordies

I just finished rebuilding the tiny 600cfm Performer I got off ebay (my
plan to pass emissions testing).
and with the carb out of the way, I finally got down to the ' re-torque
heads' item on the to-do list.

It was way past time I had the valve-covers off anyway.
I've had 6143 for 2 years and have almost no idea what's in the engine
build.
Here we come to the HELP part.
I've never touched an engine that had no rockershafts (except direct OHCs).

If you would take a look at;
http://www.poca.com/index.php/gallery/?g2_itemId=15130
particularly #8 - straight on, in full resolution

- I see Crane roller-rockers with a 172 in the forging
- I see these cute little pushrod guides? with Ford on them.
- I see the roller on #8 intake way off-center to the left
   ( a few others are off-centre, but maybe 0.075 max)
- I see incipient galling on that roller and this build has maybe 2000
miles on it.

So;
- What can you guys tell me about the build?
- Is #8 in real trouble? and how do rockers-center?
- Do I need to pull the manifold to get a look at the lifters?
 (Yes, I won't know if clearances need adjusting otherwise)

This seems typical of the poor girl
 - somebody paid for first-class parts and somebody else just threw them
in and pushed it out the door.

If the focus on the pics is a bit off, I was drinking with Brazilians
last night and everything looks that way.
