Some responders are apparently talking about rotors that mount in front of
the outboard axle wheel-flanges, instead of behind them as-stock, so the
rotors can be easily removed. These are NOT 'inboard brakes' as most people
describe them.

Ted Mitchell's 'inboard brakes' that Dennis is describing are rotors
mounted right next to the ZF on the inboard stub-axle flanges, 2 feet away from
the rear wheels. It requires special parts for the ZF shifter to clear the
rotors; a very nice, expensive design. This design has been used mostly on pure
race cars in the past, mostly for removing unsprung weight from the rear
end of a car. Lotus once rigged a set of inboard FRONT rotors with long
driveshafts connecting to the front hubs, in an attempt to lower front unsprung
weight too.
