Agreed, especially for gearbox coolers.   You'd have to be driving pretty 
hard on the street for your engine oil temperature to be adversely affected.

Bob Benson has been fighting high oil temps in his 408 stroker at track 
events for years.   He can only get a few laps in before the temp goes through 
the roof.   Also, Charlie McCall and I found that in his low-geared, 
short-tired GT5-S, it was impossible to cruise at 120 mph without the oil temp 
pegging the gauge.   This was 5000 rpm cruising.   Backing down to 4000 rpm 
brought the oil temps down within a minute or two--amazing to watch.

So in circumstances like either of those, an engine oil cooler is 
definitely a good thing.   But for ordinary, or even aggressive street driving?   
Probably not.
