Hey, that's another good idea, Jack: a lube temp gauge.
Could you explain in greater detail (and possibly reference some online pictures) regarding how to locate the ring gear position and install the temp sensor on the ZF? Sounds like a good POCA article to me!

Just wondering if anyone has added an Oil Temp gauge ... just looking for instructions and advice regarding installation.
98% of the oil temp gauges are electric, connecting to a sensor in the oil pan front. If you have an aftermarket 10-qt pan (which you should), there will be a plugged port on the front, threaded 1/4-SAE pipe- that a temp sensor can go into. I used an Autometer gauge in a little panel mounted where the unused ash tray was, and a three-position switch where the cigar lighter used to be. I added a second temp sensor in the front of my ZF near the ring gear position. Rotating the switch, I get 'Off', 'engine oil temp' and 'ZF lube temp'. Power to the new gauge light is the OEM cigar lighter power lead. Good luck- J Deryke
