[DeTomaso] Shipping from the USA to Europe to sell?

Let me be sure I understand. You are saying that you would have to pay
$91,000.00 US dollars just to register a salvage car you purchased for parts
if you wanted to register it in Norway?. I was thinking more along the lines
of selling a car in Germany or another country that has adopted the Euro and
who's economy is not as deeply rooted in Socialism as Norway. If I remember
correctly Norway was having very serious economic problems but they also pay
students to attend college and to pursue what ever career path interests
them ( like being an artist) don't they pay them to paint? Maybe I am
confusing Norway with Iceland. But in either case they are not the countries
that are on the Pinnacle of capitalist success and if you live in a country
that provides those kinds of social programs and support you have to xpect
the money to come from somewhere. I was thinking of countries that have a
strong GDP and a relatively high per capita income and use the euro. My idea
was that the decline of the dollar vs the Euro might allow for a car being
sold in Euros and priced in Euros at a sales price that has remained
relatively unchanged in the local currency ( like here a Pantera is still
being offered at the same relative price in dollars as it was two or three
years ago in spite of the change in the exchange rate in euros to dollars)
So if the situation is the same in countries that use the Euro ( for
instance if a Pantera was being offered at an asking price in Euros at 35,
000 to 45.000 Euros and a US car was brought to Europe and offered at that
price and sold in Euros there we be no difference realized by the European
customer , but the US seller would have gained around a 33% premium when the
Euros were converted back to dollars. The Sales tax or VAT would be the
burden of the buyer as it always is. And aside from any additional import
duty (imposed in addition to the normal sales tax there would be no
difference to the buyer.) If one were to research the import duties and find
a way to minimize them ( like a Pantera that was originally a grey market
car ) I don't think you have to pay duty to return an item that originated
in Europe to return it to Europe. I could be wrong but for the kind of
premium we are talking about it is definitely something worth looking into
if one had a Pantera that they were considering selling.
