[DeTomaso] Schwing-worthy hardware for ZF etc.

Dear Ken,

I am sure that is the most rational strategy, but I have succumbed to the Bling Monster, yet I also try to apply the scientific method. One Pantera has the Chuck Melton polished lovely shiny stainless steel acorn nuts. They haven't been on long and that Pantera hasn't seen much road time and when I looked last night, there didn't appear to be any notable leakage or weepage. The other Pantera would get the super trick Zago self sealing stainless steel acorn nuts and I could then do a mostly scientific comparison over the next year or two. I know it requires some sacrifice, but someone has to step up and do this experiment for the good of ZFs around the world.

Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

Dear Mike,

Yes, they mentioned the extra zinc surcharge if ordered with that. I didn't think that zinc would be necessary. I don't believe that Chuck Melton's polished stainless steel acorn nuts have zinc plating and they still look good at the ten month point of installation.

Do you think that the zinc coating is needed? It seems to me that the standard $2.55 stainless steel acorn nut would work just fine.

Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

My quote for the minimum order of 100  8mm x 1.25 stainless steel
self sealing acorn nuts was $2.55 each for a total minimum order of $255.
If someone would organize a group buy, then I would buy twenty.

                   $4 a piece??,    Chuck Engles

They fail to tell you in the quote, that they then charge an additional $100 for the zinc plating (flat rate), plus shipping.  It works out to about $375-380 for 100, or close to $4 apiece.

Mike
