I think I remember seeing this car for sale before with the same claim.
There obviously are a lot more than 6 GT5's in the world. 

Several sources state that the first GT5 was built in 1980. They typically
had riveted fenders, as you state. I'm guessing that this car was a
conversion, as it was actually built in 1978, and it has the "old style"
HVAC controls. I'm guessing it was a GTS, not a GT5, although I don't think
it really matters all that much, ie I don't think it will affect price all
that much if it is an early GT5

Thought there was a lota GT5 cars made and they all had bolted on fiberglass
fenders.
